Integrated school security solutions
What needs to work better?
Start with the issue your team faces. We’ll help you connect the right systems around it.
School access control
Make every door easier to manage.Set staff permissions, manage visitors, and schedule entry across buildings. Start with the doors that cause daily problems.

Emergency mass communications
Reach the right people, clearly.Coordinate voice, text, email, and visual alerts. Define who starts a message, who receives it, and what happens next.
Explore school emergency alerts
Intrusion alarms
Know what needs attention after hours.Connect door and intrusion alerts with useful video and a clear escalation plan for your team.
Review alarm installation
Weapon detection
Plan the screening process first.Review arrival flow, staffing, detection limits, and secondary screening before choosing entrance equipment.

Classroom lockdown & panic
Give staff a clear way to act.Review door hardware, panic activation, notifications, and safe exit needs. Then test the agreed response workflow.

K–12 schools & districts
A school day has a lot of moving parts.
Arrival, dismissal, deliveries, athletics, and after-school events all change who needs access. Build consistency across classrooms, offices, and district buildings.

Colleges & universities
Open to learning. Clear about access.
Public spaces, residence halls, labs, and evening events need different permissions. Connect facilities, IT, housing, and campus safety around one plan.

Hear from the school, campus safety, and education leaders who work with Umbrella.
“What really sets Umbrella Security apart is their ability to integrate systems and stand behind their work. Our access control now works seamlessly with our fire alarm and emergency notification systems, giving us faster lockdown capabilities and better control across all buildings.”
Leyden SD 212
“Whenever I need something they always take the time to help us. Umbrella provides analysis on camera placement, types and answers any questions we have. … I’d recommend them to other Colleges or Universities.”
“Having Umbrella Security on the construction and planning team was of great value to our organization and after the system was turned over to our administrative team they were responsive and continued to answer all of our questions.”

Make integration measurable
Ask what happens after an alert.
A product list cannot show how staff will handle an incident. Agree on practical checks before handover.
Find the event
Can staff find and export the relevant video?

Connect the systems
Does a door event show the right camera view?

Deliver the alert
Does the intended audience receive the message?

Practice the response
Can staff carry out the agreed lockdown steps?
Confirm compatible equipment, network and power requirements, permissions, and any fire-alarm or life-safety interfaces with the responsible teams.
Compare school security systemsA practical upgrade plan
Keep what works.
Fix what gets in the way.
Most campuses already have equipment. We start with your current systems, your staff’s experience, and your next budget cycle.
Walk the campus
Review doors, camera coverage, alarms, cabling, and the problems staff see every day.
Choose the priorities
Bring facilities, IT, administrators, and campus safety together around budget and timing.
Confirm what will work
Check reusable equipment, integrations, network needs, and the installation scope.
Test, train & support
Agree on acceptance checks, staff training, and support responsibilities before handover.

Scope before price
What should your school security budget cover?
Door and camera counts are only the starting point. Compare the full project scope before comparing prices.
- Equipment & infrastructure
- Hardware, cabling, network capacity, power, and reusable components.
- Installation & integration
- Access hours, system connections, testing, and staff training.
- Ongoing ownership
- Software, storage, maintenance, support, and future expansion.
A perspective from our team
“Too often, schools develop a culture that assumes they are safe because security systems are visible. But without auditing and integration testing, those systems may not perform as expected during critical incidents.”
Thomas Carnevale · CEO, Umbrella Security

Before you choose a system
Good questions to start with.
Clear answers about reuse, cost, phasing, and campus needs.
Can we keep our existing cameras and door hardware?
Often, part of an existing system can stay. We review equipment condition, manufacturer support, compatibility, licenses, cabling, and power before recommending reuse. Share model numbers or an equipment list if you have one; the site review confirms what is practical.
What affects school security system installation cost?
Door and building counts, cable routes, camera coverage, recording needs, integrations, and installation hours affect the scope. Ask for equipment, labor, recurring software, storage, maintenance, and training to be identified separately. A site survey helps turn these variables into a project-specific estimate.
Can we upgrade one building or system at a time?
Yes. Start with the most urgent operational gaps and plan later phases around a compatible design. Share your school calendar, exam periods, events, and summer access so installation and training can fit campus operations.
How are college and university systems different?
Higher education often combines open public spaces with residence halls, labs, athletics, parking, and extended hours. Access permissions, visitor entry, video coverage, and emergency messaging need to reflect those different uses and the responsibilities of campus safety, IT, facilities, and housing.
Do PA speakers replace emergency mass notification?
PA and paging support spoken announcements. A broader emergency notification plan may also use text, email, visual alerts, and other channels. Decide which audiences need each message, how priorities are handled, and what happens when a channel is unavailable.
What should we check before adding weapon detection?
Identify the entrances and events to be screened, peak arrival volumes, staffing, and space for secondary screening. Evaluate detection limits and nuisance alerts under realistic conditions. Entrance screening and gunshot detection address different needs; each requires its own operating and response plan.
